I jumped ahead while editing Heather and Matt’s wedding and had to post this sweet image from their first dance at their Peggy Notebaert nature museum wedding reception.
When photographing a wedding there are always more than a few images I am excited to see how they turned out when I get home. This is obviously one of them! The little monitor on the back of my camera is a start but doesn’t compare to my full size computer monitor at home. Not only do I like the moment with Heather smiling up at Matt but here I was using an off camera remote light to illuminate them from behind and to light up the room since reception halls are always dark no matter the venue.
The first dance is always a special moment so I am constantly striving to get the best shots that I can, especially since some dances are very short so I have to work very quickly! I always look for something with romantic lighting, a bokeh or back lighting for the backdrop, to help visually document the moment and the feel of the day.
